Sign up now for Annual Conference in Prague!

Registration is now open for the 31st MARQUES Annual Conference, which takes place in Prague from Tuesday 19th to Friday 22nd September 2017

The theme of the Conference is "Brands and Culture" and speakers will look at how brands are shaped by cultural, political and social influences.

IP rights have become more prominent worldwide, and consumers are more engaged. That results in growing tensions between trade marks and other IP rights, on one hand, and free speech, cultural sensitivities and political considerations, on the other. These tensions will be explored over the three days of the Conference.

Programme summary

Mr Josef Kratochvil, President of the Czech Republic Patent and Trademark Office, will open the Conference.

Panel sessions will include discussions on cultural trends in brands, censored marks, cultural differences in trade mark enforcement, non-trade mark protection and brand life cycles.

There will also be updates on developments at WIPO and EUIPO and a review of recent CJEU case law.

Delegates have a choice of five workshops on Thursday afternoon, covering: marketing to kids; injunctions; meet the trade name; creative work designed for business; and International Registrations.

There will be a packed social programme, including a Welcome Reception on Tuesday evening, Cultural Reception at the Zofin Palace on Wednesday evening and Black Tie Gala Dinner and Dance at the Industrial Palace on Thursday night.

How to register now

All the details, including the full programme, registration fees and sponsorship opportunities, are available on the Annual Conference page of the MARQUES website.

The Early Bird Discount, which saves you €400 on the member rate and €850 on the non-member rate, is available until Friday 30th June.
