This particular Common Communication provides a set of guidelines that will help to identify when a classification term is sufficiently clear and precise.
This set of guidelines will be reflected in part B, section 3 of OHIM's Guidelines on examination of classification by the Knowledge Circle Goods & Services
Along with this Common Communication, prior Common Communications have been updated and reissued. This is so that any developments since their initial publication are accurately and succinctly shared with stakeholders. The Common Communication on Interpretation of ‘IP Translator' has been amended to reflect the recent changes in classification practice at the Finnish National Office.
The implementation dates of the Common Practice explained in the Common Communication on the Common Practice of the General Indications of the Nice Class headings varies for each office; therefore this Communication has been updated to include an overview of implementation dates for each office.
For further information regarding the Common Communications, the activities of the Convergence Programme working groups and the Classification tools, visit the European Trade Mark and Design Network.
