On 9th June, MEPs adopted the EU Action Plan as well as a report by Italian MEP and Rapporteur for DG Trade Alessia Mosca on the protection and enforcement of IP rights in third countries. The latter aims to develop a balanced strategy following the failure of the ACTA treaty. In a statement, Rapporteur Mosca said his report is the first step towards the creation of new legislation. The resolution has been sent to the Council and Commission and to governments and parliaments of EU member states. The MARQUES Anti-Counterfeiting and Parallel Trade Team will provide a more comprehensive report for members in a future issue of HouseMARQUES, and the subject will also be discussed at a panel session at the MARQUES Conference in Vienna.
