MARQUES takes part in China Trademark Festival
Members of MARQUES, including Chair Dr Gregor Versondert, took part in a Sub-Forum organised by MARQUES at the China Trademark Festival 2017 in Guilin, Guanxi on 3rd September
The Sub-Forum included two panel sessions, moderated by Ms Julia Hongbo Zhong and Mr Sébastien Vitali, Chair and Vice-Chair of the MARQUES China Team respectively. Also attending was MARQUES External Relations Officer Alessandra Romeo. Speakers included representatives of the China Trademark Association, the China Trademark Review and Adjudication Board, the Beijing IP Court, Chinese industry and other official institutions. Among the topics discussed were: the significance of brands and their cultural impact; the proper selection of trade mark filing and prosecution strategies as the first means of brand protection; a comparative analysis of those in conjunction with trade mark classification and trade mark examination practices in national, regional and international jurisdictions, across trade mark clearance and freedom-to-use in a multijurisdictional environment; defence of trade marks against bad faith use and registration; and comparative analysis of trade mark litigation. Find out more about the China Trademark Festival on its dedicated page. The October edition of HouseMARQUES will include an article from the China Trademark Association explaining their mission and activities.
