MoU signed at Blockathon
|

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on online advertising was signed during the EU Blockathon, which was held in Brussels in June
|
The MoU aims to minimise the placement of advertising on websites and mobile applications that infringe copyright or that disseminate counterfeit goods, on a commercial scale, and thus minimise the revenue that such websites or mobile applications gain from online advertising. Find out more about it in this post on Class 46. The Blockathon, organised by the European Commission and EUIPO, was held between 22 and 25 June and attended by Vice-President of the EU Commission, Andrus Ansip.
The grand winner was Team Cryptomice, captained by Thomas Rossi, from Italy. Team Cryptomice built a blockchain agnostic solution aimed at making the validation of the authenticity of a product as easy as possible. Team Cryptomice also won the logistics award. In second place was Team Fides, captained by Tobias Kars, from Switzerland, which won the consumer and customs awards.
Watch EUIPO’s video overview of the Blockathon event on YouTube here. MARQUES, and several of its members, supported the Blockathon 2018.
