Annual Conference update

Delegates at this year's MARQUES Annual Conference can benefit from 16 hours of educational opportunities in the sessions being held from 13 to 24 September

There is still time to register for virtual attendance for the Conference, and enjoy all of the online educational and networking opportunities. All the plenary sessions from The Hague will be broadcast to TV standard. Virtual participants will also be able to obtain certificates of attendance for CPD/CLE purposes. The dedicated page on the MARQUES website features lots of information about this year’s Annual Conference, including a video showing highlights of The Hague and another video explaining the hybrid format. There is also a podcast in which Joachim Hofmann, Willem Leppink and Gregor Vos discuss the programme and what makes this year's Conference different. Educational programme Highlights of the plenary sessions include: - Good and bad behaviour in the trade mark arena – filing strategies, bad faith and trade mark trolls
- Enforcement options – the merits and disadvantages of tools such as Customs and criminal actions
- Digital challenges – how brand owners and marketplaces can effectively work together to protect IP rights and consumers
- How can you control how your brand is used post-sale? A practical approach to advertising, third-party use and emerging issues
- The big questions about trade mark protection and enforcement – customers, counterfeits and public opinion
- Key decisions from the CJEU and EU General Court – analysis of trade mark and design cases
- International litigation strategies – when and where to litigate
- Brexit – what has been the impact? What issues are emerging?
