In a video message posted on 19 July, EUIPO Executive Director Christian Archambeau said the Office received 100,000 EUTM applications in the first six months of 2021

"We have upped our game in every part of our activities and are also contributing to a more joined-up IP system," he said. He added that EUIPO is adding additional resources to meet demand, with further details to be announced in September Mr Archambeau also highlighted the Ideas Powered SME Fund and said there will be further initiatives to support SMEs later this year, and he commended progress on protecting IP rights on online marketplaces and tackling organised crime.
