IP Register in Blockchain The IP offices of Poland and Italy have joined the IP Register in Blockchain, bringing the number of participating offices to six. Poland transferred more than 34,000 records to DesignView and Italy brought more than 1.1 million trade marks to TMview. Launched last year, the IP Register in Blockchain platform provides fast and secure data transfer between IP offices and TMview and DesignView. It now has more than 3.5 million records for trade marks and 1.6 million records for designs. Read more on EUIPO’s website here. MBBC meetings The EUIPO Management Board and Budget Committee met from 22 to 24 November. MARQUES has observer status at the non-confidential parts of the meetings. Mr Jorma Hanski’s term as Chairperson of the Management Board was renewed for a term of four years from 1 January 2023. The Board also decided not to propose to the Council the extension of term of office of the Executive Director, Mr Christian Archambeau, for an additional term. His mandate as Executive Director will therefore end on 30 September 2023 and a vacancy notice for that position will be published shortly. Read more on the EUIPO website here. Ukraine A further three-month extension for all parties in proceedings before the Office having their residence or registered office in Ukraine has been announced. It extends all time limits expiring between 2 November 2022 and 1 February 2023 inclusive until 2 February 2023. EUIPO will continue to review the need for further extensions. Read more here.
