Lisbon Agreement: The African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI) acceded to the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement on Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications on 15 December. It will enter into force with respect to OAPI on 15 March 2023. The accession covers all 17 OAPI member states. The Lisbon System now covers up to 70 countries, and the Geneva Act has 16 contracting parties. Read more here. COVID-19: The WHO, WIPO and WTO called for innovation and cooperation to support timely access to pandemic products at a Joint Technical Symposium on 16 December. "There is no certainty when the next pandemic will strike us, but there is absolute certainty that it will happen again. We can and must do better the next time it happens, for ourselves and our children. I hope that today's trilateral symposium will bring us closer together and strengthen our collective will to work across the agencies, alongside our partners in the Member States, industry and civil society, to deliver a better, healthier and more sustainable outcome for our world."
