From the Observatory
|
In their regular update, Petra Herkul, Maria Cecilia Romoleroux and Sonia Santos of the MARQUES Anti-Counterfeiting and Parallel Trade Team summarise recent news from the EUIPO Observatory, EMPACT and the European Commission
|
Observatory projects The Observatory is currently working on: - Getting suggestions and ideas from stakeholders for outreach and awareness activities;
- Planning an IP Enforcement Summit 2023;
- Supporting ANDEMA, which has invited stakeholders to suggest topics and speakers for an event organised by ANDEMA in Barcelona in December;
- Requesting volunteers for the storage and destruction workshops;
- Looking into the new draft bill related to injunctions for group blocking of domain names and social media accounts that is being discussed in France; and
- Requesting suggestions for the Work Programme 2024.
EMPACT EMPACT, the European Multidisciplinary Platform Against Criminal Threats, is working on improving and expanding its IP Crime Investigation Handbook. One aspect of this is interviewing right holders, so EMPACT would like to get in touch with right holders that they can interview in person. If you are interested in sharing your experiences with EMPACT, please contact Petra Herkul (Chair of the ACPT Team) and she will connect you. Live event piracy On 15 March, a discussion paper titled "Live Event Piracy – challenges and best practises from online intermediaries to prevent the use of their services for live event piracy" was published. This is likely to be of particular interest to organisers or sponsors of live events such as sports matches and tournaments.
