The theme of the Conference is “Mind the Brand! Psychology of Brands”. Many of the sessions will focus on the legal issues and challenges of brand psychology. The Conference will also cover topical issues such as advertising on the internet, the implementation of the EC Customs Regulation in 2015 and updates on OHIM, WIPO and EU case law.
Willkommen in Wien
The Conference will be held at the Hilton Stadtpark Hotel and delegates will be accommodated both here and in the nearby Intercontinental Wien Hotel. Among the planned social events are dinner at the Palais Liechtenstein, with an opportunity to view the Royal family’s private library and art collection, and a Gala Dinner at the Schonbrunn Palace.
The Opening Ceremony will be performed by Dr Andrea Scheichl, Vice-President of the Austrian Patent and Trademark Office. The session speakers include Dr Christian Scheier, Joint Managing Director of Decode Marketingberatung GmbH and Prof Dr Dr h c Joachim Bornkamm, Presiding Judge at the Federal Court of Justice in Germany.
There will also be speakers from OHIM, WIPO and Austrian Customs, and from companies including Google, Philips and Honda Motor Europe.
Thursday afternoon will offer a choice of five workshops covering non-use cancellation, look-alikes and product get-ups, the life of a famous or well-known mark, M&A and restructuring, and geographical indications.
Early Bird details
The Early Bird rate for the full programme, including three nights accommodation, is €2,500 (£2,000). This increases to €2,900 (£2,320) for members and €3,350 (£2,680) for non-members after 3rd July.
