Look-Alike Chart 2020 update published
The MARQUES Unfair Competition Team has just completed the 2020 update of the Look-Alike Chart.
The chart contains practical and relevant information on protecting and taking enforcement actions against look-alikes in 47 countries in Europe and other key jurisdictions.
It covers practical topics such as:
- the possibility to obtain protection under common law or unfair competition;
- the enforcement of rights after the expiration of a former registered IP right;
- the requirements to show infringement;
- what claims are available in civil courts; and
- whether unused rights can be enforced against third parties.
The Look-Alike Chart has already become a classic project for the Unfair Competition Team and is updated periodically.
This year, the project team (comprised of Felipe Dannemann Lundgren, Anne-Virginie La Spada, Yana Tsygankova, Selma Ünlü and Bence Bozóki) introduced some new questions and substituted others, to make the chart even sharper. They also included further relevant information for practitioners dealing with look-alikes on a global basis.
We hope MARQUES Members will enjoy the updated chart and will find it useful for consultation.
