Strengthening geographical indications event
The European Commission (DG AGRI) is hosting an online event titled “Strengthening geographical indications” on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 November.
The Commission says the conference will “serve as the focal point for stakeholders to make their views known on the range of issues in the reform process from delivering sustainability to the legal challenge to protect GIs on the internet”.
It will bring together producers, stakeholders and EU country officials. Speakers include representatives of WIPO, EUIPO and origin as well as members of the European Commission and representatives of member states.
The conference follows up on the 2018 conference titled “Trade Marks and Geographical Indications: future perspectives”.
It will highlight he latest GI developments, notably concerning e-Ambrosia and the GI-View project, and will include a panel on options for non-agricultural GIs.
Registration is open until 23 November. MARQUES members, including members of the GI Team, will be taking part in the conference and we hope to publish a report on this blog soon afterwards.
The language of the conference will be English. You can find out more and register on the dedicated website.
