OHIM prepares for Croatian accession
According to Presidential Communication 4/12 from the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market (OHIM) the accession of Croatia to the European Union will affect the operation of the Community trade mark system. When Croatia joins the EU on 1 July 2013, all currently registered Community trade marks will automatically extend to Croatia. But it's not all one-way traffic: if you happen to own earlier Croatian rights, you can use them as a basis for opposing on relative grounds any Community trade mark application filed between 1 January and 30 June 2013.
