Two more GI specs amended: Vacherin du Haut-Doubs and Nocciola Piemonte
Two more Regulations published on the European Union's Official Journal website announce that further non-minor amendments have been made to the registration of protected names within the EU:
Posted by: Blog Administrator @ 01.33Commission Implementing Regulation 857/2013 of 4 September 2013 approving non-minor amendments to the specification for a name entered in the register of protected designations of origin and protected geographical indications (Mont d’Or/Vacherin du Haut-Doubs (PDO)). The product bearing the protected name is a French cheese from the area of Pontarlier. It is "light yellow, moldy, wavy and pleated rind. Its ivory interior, depending on its age and temperature, goes from tender and unctuous to completely fluid, as if it were a dense, creamy soup. Natural, pure cow’s milk flavor, very concentrated and strong, always balanced with very nuanced acidity and bitterness; qualities that give it complexity, as well as a forest flavor. Its aroma is penetrating and persistent, with woody notes that enrich its eminently lactic character".Commission Implementing Regulation 858/2013 of 4 September 2013 approving non-minor amendments to the specification for a name entered in the register of protected designations of origin and protected geographical indications (Nocciola del Piemonte/Nocciola Piemonte (PGI)). The Nocciola in question is a hazel nut from Piedmont, Italy. We depict its logo above.
