Who we all are...
Fight those scams! MARQUES teams up with its allies
Every trade mark owner regularly receives scam invoices and scam notices about registrations in some register or renewal notices that look like these come from official bodies.
Tomorrow, Monday 16 June, the first meeting of the Anti-Fraud Network takes place at the premises of our good friends at the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market (OHIM) in Alicante. Naturally OHIM -- as hosts and as guardians of the EU Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights -- will be participating. So too will representatives from the World Intellectual Property Organization, the European Patent Office, Europol and a number of official national IP offices and user associations, not least of which is MARQUES.
The Anti-Fraud Network will discuss these scams and the action that can be taken against them. Chair of the MARQUES Anti-Fraud Task Force, Willem Leppink, will be speaking on the role that user associations can play. Class 46 will be doing its best to get hold of all the news, views and presentations if it can, and hopes at least to be able to bring swift news of a positive outcome.
