Singapore: yes for Denmark, but not yet for Greenland and Faroes
By Singapore Notification No. 6, WIPO has announced that the Kingdom of Denmark deposited, on 24 June 2008, its instrument of ratification of the Singapore Treaty on the Law of Trademarks. This instrument declares that “until later decision, the Treaty will not be applied to the Faroe Islands (right) or to Greenland”. The date of entry into force of the Singapore Treaty will be notified when the required number of ratifications or accessions is achieved.
The Singapore Treaty comes into force three months after 10 states or intergovernmental organisations have deposited their instruments of accession or ratification (Article 28). At present the total stands at five: four European states (Denmark, Romania, Bulgaria and Switzerland) and Singapore itself.
