Who we all are...
All change as OHIM becomes EUIPO -- and watch for fraudsters!
Here's a message for us all from our friends in what is still, for a little longer, OHIM:
On 23 March, 2016, the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market (OHIM) will officially change its name to the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), as set out in the amending EU trade mark Regulation.
In addition, as from that date, one of the two unitary intellectual property rights we administer, the Community Trade Mark (CTM), will also officially change its name to the European Union trade mark (EUTM).
For electronic communications, please note that our email addresses will change to name.surname@euipo.europa.eu as from March 23, although the current name.surname@oami.europa.eu email addresses will run in parallel to the new addresses for several months.
Our website, e-business applications, fee calculators and online tools will be updated to reflect our new name as from March 23. Our current web address, www.oami.europa.eu will automatically redirect to our new domain name, www.euipo.europa.eu on and after March 23.
Do please watch out for unscrupulous souls who may be seeking to cash in on unfamiliarity with the change as a means of deceiving users of the office, rights holders and their professional representatives into thinking that they have something to do with OHIM or indeed EUIPO!
