IP protection on online marketplaces
EUIPO has launched a new website with details of the IP protection tools that are available on a number of key e-commerce marketplaces.
The website is available here. It is designed to help businesses who discover potentially infringing or counterfeit versions of products for sale on e-commerce marketplaces, or potential cases of trade mark infringement.
The tools include notification systems, IP protection programmes and contact points.
The website currently includes links and contact details for 13 e-commerce sites, such as Alibaba Group, Amazon, eBay, Facebook and Tokopedia.
EUIPO states that it has engaged with a number of marketplaces to gather the information to help IP owners access this information. Inclusion on the website does not represent an endorsement of the marketplace or its IP protection mechanisms.
If you have any feedback on the information listed, or if you represent a marketplace and would like to add information, you can contact EUIPO by email: ecommerce@euipo.europa.eu.
