Several German news sites report that German car manufacturer Volkswagen has received regulatory approval for its takeover of Swedish truckmaker Scania AB. Volkswagen took sole control of Scania in March 2008. To be able to acquire the majority stake in Scania, Volkswagen needed approval from monopoly authorities in several countries as well from the European Commission. The takeover deal will cost Volkswagen an estimated 2.8bn Euros. Volkswagen also owns car brands such as Audi, Bentley and Skoda.
