Non-agri GI regulation published
The regulation on Geographical Indication Protection for Craft and Industrial Products (CIGIR) was published in the Official Journal of the EU today.
The regulation provides for pan-EU protection for GIs for craft and industrial products, also known as non-agricultural GIs.
It establishes a two-phase process for registration: (1) national and (2) EU.
The regulation will enter into force on 16 November 2023 and will apply from 1 December 2025.
