On 10 June 2008 the Italian fashion company Dolce & Gabbana filed a cancellation action (based on invalidity) at the OHIM against the Finnish company Marimekko’s CTM registration No. 3192945 for their figurative mark “Unikko” (translation: poppy). The parties involved have also had legal encounters in relation to this dispute in
The dispute stems from Dolce & Gabbana's use of the Unikko-design in their 2008 spring fashion line. All further developments will be reported in subsequent posts.
