Malaysian Design Law Update
As of 1 July, it seems, we have had a newly-amended Malaysian design law.  The amending Act is here.  My understanding is that it applies only to newly-filed applications.
First the good news: designs filed now will benefit from up to 25 years of life, an advance on the current 15.
Now the less good news: the test for novelty changes, from disclosure in Malaysia to worldwide disclosure, overturning the effect of the decision in AV Future Link Sdn. Bhd. v Inno Supply & Services Sdn. Bhd.
There are various other changes - if anyone has studied them in detail we should be happy to have comments.
