Appeals against UK Registry design decisions: another consultation
The United Kingdom's Intellectual Property Office has informed us that it is now in the process of fully implementing section 10(2) of the UK's Intellectual Property Act 2014, which deals with appeals to an Appointed Person [a person who exercises much the same powers as the High Court but, to save costs and time, a tribunal against the decisions of which there lies no appeal] from decisions of the registrar with regard to design registration issues.
Part of the implementation involves -- you've guessed it -- an official consultation. This consultation (just 27 pages long: it won't take long to read) sets out the proposed Rules for appealing to the Appointed Person, and the associated forms, inviting your constructive comments and criticisms.
The consultation closes on 7 January 2015.
