Well done Dids! Royal honour for a fighter for designers' rights
Class 99 is delighted to discover that Dids Macdonald, CEO of Anti Copying in Design (ACID), has been given an honour in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for 2015. Dids has become an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (in short, an "OBE"). Dids has been a tireless campaigner for the rights of designers, for the effective enforcement of those rights, and for lots more besides. Last year her campaign to criminalise certain deliberate design infringements in the UK finally bore fruit, finally putting design rights on the same footing as copyright and trade marks.
A Director and activist in the Intellectual Property Awareness Network (IPAN), she is an example to us all of what you can achieve through effort, persistence, determination and by never losing sight of the problems facing small design-based businesses and their vital role in the commercial ecology.
You can read the IPAN press release on this well-deserved honour here.
