New Israel design law proposed
From Michael Factor's IP Factor weblog comes news that Israel's plans for a new design law, following a lengthy period of gestation, are now out in the open. This reform is not a minute too soon, since the new law is intended to replace the Patent and Design Ordinance which was introduced during the British Mandate in 1922.
The IP Factor carries a handy summary of the proposals, which may yet be amended when the Bill passes through the Knesset (the Israeli parliament). They affect the ownership of designs made in the course of employment and will provide for an unregistered design right in tandem with a registered rights system.
You can check out the text of the proposed legislation here, if you can manage the Hebrew.
