EU Design Law: a one-day course
The FORUM · Institut für Management GmbH is offering a one-day course for legal practitioners on EU Design Law on 20 October 2015. The presenter of this course, which is being held in Paris, is MARQUES Designs Team chair David Stone. Incidentally, a copy of David's excellent book on the subject will be provided for every registrant at no extra cost.
The objective of the course is summarised as follows:
Ever since Samsung cited sci fi movie '2001' as prior art in a procedure brought by Apple, registered designs have attracted the attention of the wider public. The European designs case of the domestic air fresheners involving Procter & Gamble and Reckitt Benckiser have attracted interest mostly among experts. Attendees will study these two cases in this course which aims at providing practical guidance in where there are still issues covered in the legislation which remain unlitigated, or where the European courts have not yet provided guidance. This practical course will be a much-needed guide to the law and practice. Attendees will get a systematic overview and will examine the interpretation provided by OHIM and the European Courts. Our speaker will suggest answers to key problems of EU design law and give an update on recent case-law.
