MARQUES and Corsearch are proud to invite you to a special round table webinar convened to discuss how the future of brand protection has been affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Hosted by Corsearch’s President of Brand Protection, Daniel Bennett, the webinar will take place on May, 14th at 4pm CET. The webinar is free to attend and will be available to a limited number of applicants on a first come first served basis. The round table session will feature speakers including Petra Herkul (DSM), Dieuwerke van der Schalk (Jacobs Douwe Egberts), Susana Fernandez Martin (Inditex) and Alper Demirci (Toyota Motor Europe). Together they will explore some of the key ways that the coronavirus has already impacted online brand protection. The topics to be discussed will include the dramatic changes in industrial production, eCommerce patterns, online counterfeiting, and consumer behaviour, which have resulted from social distancing and mandatory quarantine orders. The webinar will also discuss what the short, medium, and long-term future of brand protection and anti-counterfeiting will look like. Our speakers will discuss how different industries may be affected by the ongoing impacts of the crisis and will unpack some of the most effective strategies that companies can take to enhance their future brand protection. Daniel Bennett has held chief executive and senior management positions in global
software, consulting, and online services firms across Europe, Asia, and
North America. Daniel is considered one of the pioneers of the online brand
protection industry in Europe. He is also a regular and passionate writer
and speaker on the evolving online threats to brand owners. He joined Yellow
Brand Protection as CEO in 2014 and is now the President of Brand Protection
at Corsearch.

Petra Herkul - DSM
Petra started her trademark career in 1990 working for Numico, where she gradually built the trademark department and managed that until 2000. In 2002 she became a trademark advisor employed at trademark agency Bouma in Rotterdam. In September 2007 Petra joined the Global Trademarks Center of DSM where she combines managerial tasks as head of the Global Trademarks Center with work as in-house counsel, amongst others help building the trademark strategy and portfolio of DSM Dyneema. Petra is a certified BBMM attorney. ![]()
Dieuwerke van der Schalk - Jacobs Douwe Egberts
Dieuwerke (Dee) worked at the Global Brand Protection Department of Sara Lee/DE N.V. in Utrecht from 2000. In July 2012 the Coffee & Tea Division of Sara Lee split off and became the company D.E MASTER BLENDERS 1753, in July 2015 the company merged with the coffee division of Mondelez and became JACOBS DOUWE EGBERTS. She is working for the department responsible for the protection of all trademarks, designs and domain names of the new company. Dee joined the MARQUES Council in 2003 and is a member of the Intellectual Asset Management Team. ![]()
Susana Fernandez Martin - Inditex
Susana obtained her Degree in Law from the University of Valladolid (Spain) in 1991 and her Master in legal practice from the Instituto de Empresa (Madrid- Spain) 1992. Susana joined the legal department of INDITEX in June 1994 and she is now the Head of the IP department. The IP Department is a corporate department integrated by 19 people who deal with all IP and related issues of INDITEX Group worldwide ![]()
Alper Demirci - Toyota Motor Europe
Alper worked a development and operations manager in a brand protection consulting company for 6 years. He had the experience of working with many brands from different industries. Alper was Toyota Motor Europe’s regional brand protection coordinator until 2019 when he joined the Toyota Motor Europe team as the contracted Brand Protection Operations Manager. |
