TUESDAY 21 SEPTEMBER 2021
11.00 – 12.30 hrs Webinar: Influencer marketing: legal challenges and to-dos
in an international context
Influencer marketing is an established way of promoting goods and services
today. On Instagram, YouTube, Tik Tok and other sites, influencers have a
large number of followers with whom they are in constant exchange and
contact. Some of them have become superstars. The common interests, ideas
and desires of the community enable advertisers to reach out to a large
group of people corresponding to their target group. Clicks and interactions
are measurable. Some campaigns go viral.
Influencer marketing is therefore part of a variety of marketing campaigns
and the advertising world would be inconceivable without it. However, there
are still legal risks and imponderables for entrepreneurs, influencers and
agencies, whose violations of the law can lead to warnings, fines or even
claims for damages.
Influencer marketing is not free of law, but it is also not absolutely
legally secure – and there are different legal frameworks applicable in
different countries. But even in one and the same jurisdiction, the proper
treatment of influencer marketing still remains difficult. The courts
disagree on many essential issues and will have some work to do in the
coming years to develop uniform lines. It is also conceivable that
legislators will intervene in a regulatory manner to close existing
loopholes.
We will put the FAQ in a truly international context and work out the
answers with you.
This webinar is jointly organised by the MARQUES Copyright Team and the
MARQUES Brands & Marketing Team.
